So that the Ford vs Ferrari race could happen. They know Ford isn’t in it for the long term so they’re just letting them get their win as an anniversary present. Ford will probably quit after next year.

Dunno, Porsche was strong when raining but I wouldn’t put it past the ACO to manipulate this year’s race for good old Ford vs. Ferrari.

Kind of, but only the 488 and GT are clean sheet designs taking advantage of the 2016 regs, the 911, Aston, and C7R are updated cars.

Ford has already said that it’s a two year program. But yes, the BoP is very messed up and I’m hoping the top three GTs fail to finish. Should have left the BoP as it was at the Le Mans Test.

Not sure if it’s intentional, but no doubt everyone wanted a ford/Ferrari battle.

BOP is VERY MUCH in play though. It is too strange that the two strongest competitors the entire season are somehow no-shows at lemans this year. :/

Ford is in it for the long haul. There is way to large of an investment in designing a car specifically for the regulations and then assembling 2 teams to run in two different series for them to only run for 2 years. They will be running for at least 4 years of not more.

Also BOP was very hard for the ACO to apply. The Ford and Ferrari are the only cars built to the new regulations and are by design better than the updated 2015 cars the other teams are running. It didn’t help that neither team showed what they truly had before the start of the race (Ford only ran just hard enough to grab the pole).

New regulations were introduced to make the cars faster and the teams who took advantage of these new regulations should not be punished because other teams are still using older cars.

Sorry, not literally no-shows. Im referring to the fact that the 911 and Corvettes are WAY off pace. At least one of them have competed for the win in every race this season, yet both are strangely slow at the biggest race of the year. An unequal BOP is definitely at play.

But IMSA runs slightly different performance and aero specs compared to the ACO. That is why the M6 GTLM is not eligible for WEC competition and why the American Ford GTs are slightly different to the British Ford GTs.
